| Overview of
Japanese radio regulations concerning license exempt low power
radios |
This is a brief overview of the regulatory
information concerning license exemptions for low power radio
related to Circuit Design's radio modules.
The following two categories represent the major license exempt low
power radio categories.
Radio equipment operating with extremely
low power of emission
Radio equipment that emit very low power. They are excluded from the
category that requires Technical Regulations Conformity
Certification, but they are very low power equipment.
Specified low-power radio equipment
To use radio with higher output power, there are several categories
of license exempt low power radio, but they require Technical
Regulations Conformity Certification. Specified low-power radio
equipment is the category that fits most of Circuit Design's radio
modules. It allows emissions up to 10 mW.

| Radio equipment operating with
extremely low power of emission |
This is the category for which there is no need for
Technical Regulations Conformity Certification. Only the maximum
field strength is specified as shown below.
Typical products used in this category are vehicle keyless entry
systems that have operating ranges of only a few meters. Maximum
field strength allowed in this category is very low compared with
the RF power allowed by FCC part 15 or European regulation. The
practical operation range achievable with such low power is very
limited.

| Specified low power radio
equipment |
This is the part where 1-10 mW of maximum RF power
is allowed.
Generally, it requires the fulfilment of all of the following
conditions.
(1) Antenna power of 0.01 watts or less.
(2) Use of radio type and frequency as specified in the ministerial
ordinance of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
(3) No disturbance of the operations of other radio equipment
(4) Only uses radio equipment with the Technical Regulations
Conformity Certification.
Among the many kinds of equipment for specified low power radio
equipment, Circuit Design's radio modules are best suited to
“Telemeter, Telecontrol and Data Transmission Radio equipment”. The
following table summarizes the specifications of the ARIB standards
specified for Telemeter, Telecontrol and Data Transmission Radio
equipment.
